(A tribute to my father)

I reach into the depths of my soul

to write this, dad.

This is not a solemn remembrance,

no condolences are needed.

For up in heaven, there are no burdens,

and you are free to roam as you desire.

Dad, you will always be

the Master and Commander of tall ships,

sailing across the great sea.

You will navigate the starry skies with precision, detail, and passion,

like you always longed to do.

This is your time, to explore all the places

that you dreamed of,

to visit all the people that you cared for,

to celebrate the after life,

with tiramisu and a shot of Hennessy.

you will always be

a living legend,

to me.

Rest in peace.
